What is Comprehensive Sex Education?

Never before in the history of the State of Washington has a law been passed mandating all public schools teach a specific curriculum!.

ENGROSSED SUBSTITUTE SENATE BILL 5395 passed by the House, the Senate and signed into law by Governor Jay Enslee, March 27, 2020 "requiring every public school provide comprehensive sexual health education to each student by the 2022-23 school year. (Page 1, Lines 9-11)

The Curriculum

Comprehensive Sexual Education programs include medically accurate, evidence-based information about both contraception and abstinence. The intention is to help prevent students from contracting sexually transmitted infections, such as HIV and HPV. CSE is also designed to help reduce unplanned and unwanted pregnancies, as well as lowering rates of domestic and sexual violence, thus contributing to a healthier society, both physically and mentally.
